We are a unique, dynamic, market driven fully operational electricity utility that is proud to be serving its rural members. The foundation of the REA began through the farmer’s vision, in the early forties! We have a legacy that we continue to follow, strategizing, and decision making for the powerful future of Battle River REA.

OUR MISSION:

Battle River REA's sole mission is to provide the best and most cost effective electric power service possible to its members consistent with sound business principals.

OUR VISION:

To operate a fair, accountable and responsible cooperative demonstrating flexibility and futuristic vision.

COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLES:

1. Voluntary and Open Membership – Battle River REA is a voluntary organization, open to all persons able to use their services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership, without gender, social, racial, political, or religious discrimination. “Membership for All”
2. Democratic Member Control – Battle River REA is a democratic organization controlled by its members, who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions.  “One Member, One Vote”
3. Members’ Economic Participation – Battle River REA members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of their cooperative. “You Don’t Just Pay for Electricity You Invest in the Utility You Own”
4. Autonomy and Independence – Battle River REA is autonomous, a self-help organization controlled by its members. “Self-Reliance Is a Way of Life”
5. Education, Training, and Information – Battle River REA provides education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their cooperative.  “You are an Owner, Not a Customer”
6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives – Battle River REA serves its members most effectively and strengthens the cooperative movement by working together. “Working Together to Benefit All”
